SM4.73 has upright, light and bright green leaves with little to no ribbing and a small stem provides a long harvest window. This fast growing  cut and come again variety is a traditional favourite for salads

Germination requires 30% oversowing. (70-75% Germination rate)

Growing Information
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Cichorium endivia
CULTURE: Baby leaf chicory prefers soil with a pH of 5.5–6.5. Suitable for growing anytime during the season but performs best in cool weather.
DIRECT SEEDING: Sow 3–5 seeds every 25mm in rows 4-5cm apart.
SUCCESSION PLANTING: For a continuous supply, sow about every 2 weeks.
HARVEST: Harvest with a knife when leaves reach desired size, about 7-14cm. Cut about 25mm above the soil to allow for clean regrowth, making sure to cut above the basal plate. Cut again when plants are at desired size, 5–14 days depending on variety.
AVG. SEEDING RATE: Endive and Escarole baby leaf: 30g/100metres (based on 10 rows/bed)

SALAD MIX/BABY LEAF: Sow in a 5-10cm wide band, about 60 seeds/30cm. Cover seeds lightly, about 3mm. Firm soil gently, and keep surface moist until emergence in 3-5 days (or longer in cold weather). Harvest at 4-5 weeks.
