Highly uniform and vigorous refined F1 scarlet turnip
Ajibeni’s dark pink skin covers a succulent and crisp white interior with bursts of pink colouration and a flavour and texture profile on par with both our white and purple salad turnips
Ajibeni is our recommended replacement for Scarlet Queen. Supplied by the same breeder, it has superior uniformity and vigour.
Scarlet/pink turnips with sweet, juicy white flesh.
Internal pink splashes of colour add to the appeal when sliced.
Resistant to White rust and Clubroot
Best when harvested at 6-9cm in diameter.
Try them with white salad turnip for a bunch with nice colour contrast.
CULTURE: Turnips are tolerant of moderate frost as seedlings in spring, and as mature plants in fall. Turnips prefer a fertile, well-drained soil, with a pH of 6.0-7.5. Sow early spring through late summer in a 5-10cm wide band, seeds 2.5cm apart for small turnips or 5cm apart for larger turnips. Sow 6-12mm deep in rows 30-45 apart. INSECT PESTS: Floating row covers installed at the time of sowing will keep the turnips free of insect pests, including root maggots.
INTENSIVE SPACING: 6 rows per bed spaced every 5cm on the row
